Holyhead Maritime Museum

Holyhead Maritime Museum is located in the oldest Welsh lifeboat shed, located at Newry Beach.

The museum includes information about shipwrecks, lifesaving and life on the sea as well as life during World Wars 1 and 2. There is also a model of the Holyhead Breakwater Lighthouse in the museum.

The museum records information about HMS Thetis, a submarine that went down on her first test dive.

The lifeboat station opened in 1858 and was extended in 1890 to accommodate a second, larger boat. Holyhead Maritime Museum opened in March 1986, opened by the Duke of Westminster.

The museum also has a cafe alongside.
