Located in Niton Church graveyard, a memorial to the keepers killed at St Catherine’s Lighthouse during an air raid in World War 2.
On 1 June 1943 the three keepers on duty at St Catherine’s Lighthouse were killed by a bombing raid which destroyed the engine house in which they were all inside.
Lighthouse Keepers RT Grenfell, C Tomkins and WE Jones are buried in the local cemetery at Niton village.
The gravestone reads: Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works.
A plaque is also displayed on the ground floor of the lighthouse tower.
